The table/cell size of the fuel and timing maps affects the power you can make. If you get a standalone that only has 8x8 maps, you will most likely make less power than one with 24x24, 48x48, 8+x8+ maps. With larger cell ranges (i.e. less tunable cells) you are tuning to the average of that range. The more cells there are, the smaller the range you are averaging. So instead of tuning timing/fuel for a [random number] 30kpa range, you would be tuning for a [random number] 10kpa range. Will you make a ton more power with more cells? Probably not. A friend of mine had the same LINK ECU I have on my car right now. He had it as tuned as tuned could be. He switched it out for a newer, higher powered, faster standalone and saw a 20rwhp gain. Nothing else was changed. Worth selling what I've had on my since 2003 for next to nothing and spending $700+ on a new standalone? Wasn't to me for years, but it's becoming more and more so for other reasons.
